اشتعلت الحرب على الحشيش في مصر، حيث تؤكد السلطات أنها وجّهت ضربة قوية لهذا النوع من المخدرات والذي كان لا يزال حتى اندلاع هذه الحرب منتشراً الى حد كبير. وقالت صحيفة "الأهرام" الرسمية في صدر صفحتها الأولى مطلع الأسبوع إن "وزارة الداخلية تفرض سيطرتها على سوق الحشيش"، مشيرة الى أن "تقريراً لجهاز الأمن العام يؤكد القضاء التام" على تجارة الحشيش

The war on hashish ignited in Egypt, where the authorities assured that it directed a strong blow to this type of drugs which was continuing until this war spread to a big extent. The official newspaper Al Ahram on the front of its first page at the beginning of the week said that "the Interior Ministry is imposing its control over the market for hashish", indicating that "a report by the General Security apparatus affirmed the complete termination of the hashish trade.

ولكن إعلان القضاء التام على الحشيش في مصر يبدو أمراً صعباً خصوصاً أنه، وفقاً لدراسة رسمية أعدت في 2007 فإن 8% من الـ80 مليون مصري يتعاطون المخدرات خصوصاً نبات البانغو وهو نوع من الماريغوانا
But the announcement of the total eradication of hashish in Egypt seems a difficult matter, especially since according to an official study prepared in 2007, 8% of the 80 million Egyptians take drugs, especially the plants of bango, a type of marijuana.

An assistant of the Egyptian Interior Minister Hamdi AbdelKareem says that "the struggle against drugs does not end ever. He adds "We hope to continue eradication of the trade in drugs."

Consumers of hashish began to feel a shortage of this type of drugs in the market and one resident of Cairo says "I bought hashish for 3,500 ginayh (635 dollars) for the occasion of my wedding. A few months ago I could buy the same amount for 2,600 ginayh only (470 dollars).
