Translation of the Day
I'm hoping to get sued by Georgetown University Press.
يا استاذ، جلست في الصف ويدي مرفوعة خمس دقائق، لماذا لم تسمح لي بالكلام؟
Ya professor, I sat in class with my hand raised for five minutes. Why did you not allow me to speak?
جلست في المحطة تنتظر وصول القطار، متمنية أن يكون ابنها فيه
She sat at the station waiting for the arrival of the train, hoping that her son is on it.
تركت بيت أهلها وهي في السادسة عشرة من عمرها، باحثة عن الشهرة في المدينة الكبيرة
She left (her family's) home when she was sixteen years of age, in search of fame in the big city.
واصل الامام محمد عبده نشاطه السياسي ضد الاحتلال الانجليزي وهو في فرنسا
Muhammad Abduh continued his political activity against the British occupation while he was in France.
كتبوا الى رئيس تحرير الصحيفة معبرين عن رأيهم في المقالة
They wrote to the editor of the newspaper expressing their opinion about the article.
جلسوا يناقشون الموضوع حتى ساعة متأخرة من الليل

The following sentences are interesting. I believe that practicing the اسم فاعل واسم مفعول is very beneficial to learning a verb.
1. كانت حفلة رسمية ولكنهم جاءوا لابسين جينز
It was a formal party but they came wearing jeans.
2 اتصلت بمحطة التليفزيون مطالبة بحقها في أن تسمع صوتها
She contacted the television station demanding her right for her voice to be heard.
3. جلست بنتك ساعتين تقرأ كتابا
Your daughter sat for two hours reading a book.
4. قضت حياتها تكافح ضد الجهل وعدم المساواة
She spent her life fighting against ignorance and inequality.
5. الكلام بالتليفون وأنت تقود السيارة قد يكون خطيرا
Talking on the telephone while you are driving a car may be dangerous.
